Who are your biggest influences?
Ton Schulten a Dutch landscape painter & Ineke Berlijn a Dutch / English art quilter who makes beautiful landscape quilts.
What is your most important artist tool? Is there something you can’t live without in your studio?
My sewing machine.
Do you work on more than one project at a time?
I like to finish one project at a time. Sometimes I get side-tracked by some new ideas and make some samples that can lead into new work.

I love abstract art, but I mostly make illustrative art.
What’s your favorite art work?
Reinalso (San Blas) the art quilt that I made from a picture when I visited the San Blas islands for the first time in 1994.
It won a price in France.
Describe a real-life situation that inspired you?
Scuba diving was an inspiration for some of my underwater-quilts.
What superpower would you have and why?
To find a cure for cancer and Alzheimer.
Name something you love, and why.
Traveling to get new inspiration and ideas.
Name something you don’t love, and why.
Getting older and knowing that life is ending at a certain time. There is still so much I want to see and do.
What is your dream project?
Finishing my Memory series with letters of our daughter and granddaughter.
Name three artists you’d like to be compared to.
There are so many I admire, and I don't think I will ever be able to compare to them.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Keep working! Don't worry about mistakes, just go on. Inspiration comes to those who work!
